HERE’S TO LIFE, a new one-man play, celebrates the life and legacy of jazz and blues great JOE WILLIAMS.
Smack dab in the middle of Jim Crow America during the depression Joe turned to his culture and the arts to make a living…to survive. “Music will see me through.”
From his early days singing with the bands in Chicago in the 1930s, a one-year stint in a mental hospital, six years with the Count Basie Orchestra, and forty more years as a leader on his own, Joe forged his own style, and bucked the system with patience and grace.
Here’s To Life is a tribute to a man whose passion not only turned his own life around, but touched the lives of audiences worldwide.
Joe artistry and life example are relevant today and worthy celebration.
